The Diploma of Hospitality Management at QAT provides students with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience in practical food production, hygiene, menu costing, occupational health and safety, teamwork and basic nutrition.

DIPLOMA OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT AUSTRALIA – COURSE DESCRIPTION

Upon successful completion of SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management at QAT, you will have the necessary skills and knowledge required to lead and manage in the fast paced world of hospitality. You will acquire a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills such as developing and managing quality customer service and preparing and monitoring budgets. You will also gain a sound knowledge of the industry in order to coordinate hospitality operations and take on the role of a skilled senior employee capable of making operational business decisions. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a Chef, Chef de cuisine, or any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager.

DIPLOMA - HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT COURSE DURATION AND STUDY

The duration of a course may vary based on the funding by which the program is being delivered under. In this instance, a training plan/schedule will be used to outline the duration and scheduling of the intended program to the student or candidate. The study options will be set out in the schedule/plan which is provided at enrolment, detailing the training methods by which the program is being delivered. All courses have full fee disclosure prior to a student commences upon enrolment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Domestic Students: 

  • There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

International Students:

  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent* (No band below 5.0)
  • Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent in the student’s home country)*
  • Students who have not completed high school must have relevant work experience or a qualification that indicates a likely success of course completion.

*Alternatively, students are required to take a pretest before enrolment.

Skills and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you study at the Queensland Academy of Technology, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
