COURSE DESCRIPTION
Are you interested in learning the art of coffee-making? If so, the Barista Course at Queensland Academy of Technology is for you. This fun and practical program is ideal for individuals seeking employment as a Barista. You will learn the necessary skills and knowledge required to use personal hygiene practices to prevent contamination of food and extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders.
This 2-day Barista course at QAT will provide you with the following skills to work in a café or restaurant:
• Operate the coffee machine
• Make each coffee on the menu
• Correctly texture milk for the silky microfoam
• Use and set the coffee grinder
• Clean and maintain the coffee machine
• Create coffee art such as leaves, hearts, lowers and other etching designs
• How to froth milk more effectively
• Etching techniques
• Fudge art techniques
• Free Pouring techniques
• Latte art techniques

Assessments will take the form of direct observation of practical tasks and written questioning by trainers with the relevant qualifications as set down by the Australian Government
